"This is not a book, it is a matchstick  which can ignite the lamp of change. Buy it, read it, share it, gift it! Inspire a young mind today!!"

-- Rashmi Bansal, Author, Entrepreneur, Youth Expert

"#ChangeStartsYoung encompasses several anecdotes featuring young minds at work. In each of these short stories, there is drive, ideas and the thirst to prove oneself—whether they be minors or not. These innovative young adults have sparked inspiration into me—another adolescent—and this small spark, in the many teens and tweens who will read it may erupt into a raging wildfire.

Each of these stories are followed by a series of questions, that make it all the more compelling; they make you think like a changemaker. The illustrations are extremely cool and modern.

These stories should be put upon the shelves of many changemaking minds, and each of these will make children stop thinking, I won’t be able to do this—I’m just a kid!

These are the kind of thoughts that plagued my childhood, and I perhaps previous generations.

But that is about to stop, because #ChangeStartsYoung."

- Saira Iqbal, 14 years old

"If there’s anything these past ten years of YourStory has taught me, it’s that India is a land of millions of aspiring changemakers who have the passion and ideas to create lasting change. All they need is inspiration from role models to act on their ideas without fear. I believe the stories of the 20 young changemakers featured in #ChangeStartsYoung will inspire our youth to be like them. The book is filled with such well-told stories and so many beautiful illustrations that have the power to resonate with our youth, and the potential to start a movement of young changemakers across India. It’s a book I would’ve wanted to write."

“Children are, and indeed have been, active participants in society. The wonders that India’s nearly 500 million children can do for nation building, if truly given an opportunity, is
hard to fathom. #ChangeStartsYoung is a brilliant attempt at capturing a sliver of this magic through the lives of children as young as eight. This book comes at an opportune time as the
world rallies around World Children’s Day in 2019 to celebrate 30 years of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Books like #ChangeStartsYoung don’t just simply inspire young people. They also help adults to reflect and re-examine our opinions and attitudes, by considering children’s potential as change agents. All we need to do is give our children a free rein, so they can actively participate at all levels to flourish as today’s citizens!”

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The Road Less Taken, Robert Frost

Life is the story of choices we make.  Choices are hard at times. The Change-makers profiled in this book #ChangeStartsYoung had two choices, either to conform and walk with the crowd, or to question the existing order and walk the unexplored road of a change-maker.
On the road less taken, the change-makers had no maps, no resting places or milestones on the way. What they had was their conviction and the wish to make a change in this world which went beyond themselves. There was risk of failure, risk of ridicule and risk of being branded as a misfit, but they persevered.

What makes the story of the change-makers profiled in this book compelling, is that the change-makers are children who have challenged the societal and community norms. Children hardly have any say in our society, even less do they have in their hands the levers or the positional power to change. However, what they have is selflessness, innocence, and the belief that one person can change the world. It is probably these qualities which have given our change-makers the courage to walk the road less taken. When you would read the stories in the book you will realise ‘that has made all the difference’.

I hope that this book #ChangeStartsYoung will inspire more young people across the world to become change-makers, to find solutions to some of the biggest problems mankind faces.
I feel inspired when I meet the young change-makers, their parents and communities. I hope you enjoy reading their stories and that it provides your dose of inspiration too!

"Stories initiate changes. Role models drive changes. However, when you combine stories with role models, or rather stories of role models, this could result in something bigger than the sum of its parts. This could set the foundation for a deeper and longer lasting impact, especially on our youth. This beautiful and well-told book achieves this purpose. This book is not laid out as one that you can just read and move on with life, but as one which enables you to imbibe lessons, and most importantly put into practice."
